Family Legacy Tree
Example Family Trees with Names
Every tree is laid out for its family, so no two look the same. These examples use made-up families to show how different family shapes fit on the tree.

How a family tree with names is laid out
- The trunk: the grandparents, with the year they married.
- The branches: each of their children, with a husband, wife or partner if they have one.
- Above each branch: that child's own children, oldest first.
- The roots (optional): the grandparents' parents, up to two on each side, with their years.
- The title: "The ___ Family" in script at the top.
Small and big families
A family with two children and three grandchildren gets wide, airy branches. A family with five children and nineteen grandchildren fills the whole crown. The tree holds up to 6 children with up to 6 grandchildren each. On the 36 × 24 in canvas the names shrink a little for very big families, and the preview tells you when that happens. On the 48 × 32 in canvas every name prints a third larger.
Families that don't fit a template
- A child without kids still gets their own branch.
- Single parents are fine: the spouse field is optional.
- Blended families or second marriages: message us before you order and we'll help you lay it out.
Try it with your own names
The fastest way to see how your family will look is to type it in. The personalize page paints the tree as you type, and nothing is ordered until you add it to the cart.
Type the names, watch the tree paint itself, and see the exact canvas before you order. From $129, free US shipping.
